Has anyone here done an Association calender and or is anyone interested. It would be recomended to use pictures gathered from individuals and events from accross the U.S. Thoughts ? Ideas ?
To what end? If it is as a fund raiser then I would be happy to produce it and have it printed. It would be as nice as the target priced allowed. If the idea is to simply provide the calendar data, then we can complete the document and mail it to the dial ups and let the broadbands down load it. They could then either place the graphics in their own computer based calendar or they could take the files to Kinkos and have the calendar printed in what ever format they liked. I would be happy to produce that project as well.
The first project has high printing and mailing costs (tubes). I would utilize my Macintosh connections to get as good a price on the printing as possible. The association would need to pay up front and recover the expense as the calendars sold. I am sure there would be a lot of pre-purchase committments but with the number of members we have and the number that join over time, it would be a serious crap shoot to produce the right number.
The Kinkos idea would allow us to put together a fairly serious photo album and the member could use them as wallpaper, screen savers, or go to Kinkos and spend what ever they wanted on which ever pictures they wanted and get the calendar they wanted. This scenario also removes the time issue. We cannot get a printed 2004 calendar done in a timely manner. If you are printing one at Kinkos you can have the calendar start and end on the months of your choosing.
My part on the photos would be to "normalize" them. (Try to make them look like they were shot from the same camera.) And to optimize them. (all of the "corrections" that they might need.) And to standardize them. (make them all the same resolution and size.) Comedy head transpositions and boat morphing would be extra!
I like the Kinko's idea. I have had calenders done by them before and they came out great. I have a few good pictures I can contribute. I don't however see anyone else with a reply. Perhaps they are not interested.
