Epicureanism Webster..n..The philosophical system of Epicurus, holding that the world is a series of fortuitous combination of atoms and that the highest good is pleasure, interpreted as freedom from disturbance or pain.
I noticed some posts from members needing XXX sizes. Also being an XXX, I wondered if we Cat people are just a bunch of pleasure seekers. Food, to some of us, is a direct conection to pleasure. Sailing is a conection to pleasure as well.
Maybe we should call it the "Catalina 25/250 National Epicurean Sailors Association".
I think you're on to something there, PW. Being a sailor of the rotund sort myself, I know that sailing and good food are certainly two of my passions. I think the epicurians had the right idea about the highest good
well im 5 feet 10 inches tall, and i weigh 150 lbs (same as i did when i graduated highschool 13 years ago). i must say that i enjoy food and drink as much if not moreso than anyone i know, it just doesnt stick for some reason!
Hmmmm... Got the boat about the time I installed the big Viking range. The biggest injury I've ever had on the boat was trying to save a pork roast from rolling off the Magma. The joy I get from a good cruise in decent wind is only matched by the joy I get from other dock mates asking "what is that you're cooking." Our biggest expense for a normal evening cruise? A stop at the grocery for baguettes and cambazola....
Epi- Webster..[<Gr. epi, at,on] a prefix meaning on, upon, over, among. Cure- Webster.. [<L. cura, care] to restore to health. I- Webster.. [<OE. ic] the person speaking or writing. -An- Webster.. [,L. anus] suffix meaning belonging to. -Ism- Webster..[<Gr. ismos] a suffix meaning 4. devotion to.
So with my very best Okie logic, Epicurianisn means "I think, just among us, restoring our health belongs with doing what we are devoted to." ain't that sailing?
Now if it only has to do with food, then what could be better than Vienna Sausage, Fritos and Beer under sail.

Chex Mix, Cashews and Beer
BTW, Jim, in what part of Oklahoma did you develop your logic? Seems pretty sound to me.

Smoked baby clams and cream cheese on water crackers, with beer (though this doesn't necessarily help the inlaws visiting from the Midwest fighting the queezies caused by ocean sailing).
Do not need Chex Mix, Cashews , just the Beer will do...and Chip...just wait, it will stick with a vengence and then the only way out is to give up the Carbs...that means give up real beer, Steve
Since I'm 140 lbs soaking wet - I would need poles and stakes with a XXXL. PS. I'm 58 am 5' 5.5 " I can stand up inside the cabin on my C250K. Oh well bring on the food.
I lived in Wapanucka as a babe, that's 19 miles NE of Tishomingo where my Mom and one brother lives now. (At the north shore of Lake Texoma.) Another Brother lives in Durant (pronounced doo-rant). I am the only one of 5 kids that lives in Calif.
The state people let me stay 'cause I learned to say that number that comes after three with only one syllable, I removed expressions like "fixin tuh", "futher" and "ain't fur", from my vocabulary and I quit saying "awl" for oil, "war" for wire, and "winder" for window. Ahh, the benefits of a California education in the 50's when you learned something!
