Forgive my ignorance, but aren't winches supposed to be shiny? All three of my 7's and both my ST16's are. Plus all 4 of my 6's on my '22 as well. Is there another kind of finish?

They are black anodized. It is like those Caphalon cooking pans. It became a bit trendy a few years ago. They will work the same. I will say just looking at the photos these seem a bit worn for a bid of $120.

I am going to be replacing the Lewmar #7's on my own boat next month (upgrading to Lewmat #14 self-tailers), and was wondering what the old ones might be worth. I see that the pair currently on Ebay have had one bid for $120... One of my sailing club friends expressed the opinion that it might be difficult to unload old #7's at all, even at a very low asking price, as most people doing a replacement want self-tailers. It's nice to know that it looks like I have a chance to get at least $100 for mine if I put them on Ebay.
I have received one of the new winches from SailNet, and the other, which was back-ordered, is scheduled to be delivered next Monday. Nice Christmas present to myself, along with the tiller pilot I bought a few weeks ago and will install this weekend if it isn't raining.
