I'd like to post some of my sailing/boat repair pic's but am leery of signing up on some of the commercial sites (shutterfly etc.) and running into a 'gotcha' or an increase in spam/advertising volume.

Any comments/advice out there on a photo site that works and is "safe"? I suppose I could go ahead and use my 'personal' site space on my ISP and build a little web page, but that will take a bit.

BTW...

Had a lovely sail yesterday here on Humboldt Bay... clear skies, temps in the upper 50's and full-on sunshine.

The day started out as a 'drifter', with just enough puffs to barely maintain steerage but in the afternoon some very nice SW winds (5 to 10) filled in and provided a great time.

I guess most folks were busy with other things (being Friday) as only one other boat was out... but they gave up and headed in just before the wind arrived.

The C25 continues to impress me as being a very nicely balanced boat and was very responsive given it's weight... even when wildly under-canvassed.

Using the personal ISP space doesn't require making a web page. The pics can be simply stored there. Contact your ISP to setup a name and password.

Use a simple program like WS_FTP or if using XP or possibly 2000, use MS Windows Explorer and "My Network Places" to access the site.

If using Windows Explorer... its as simple as cut n paste the pic files to the web storage.

You will need of course to know the web address to your ISP storage and then just append the picture to the address.

For example, my address is http://www.cox-internet.com/arlynstewart

where cox_internet is the provider and arlynstewart is the account name. Then to show a pic on the forum, just append the pic name to the address, example is

http://www.cox-internet.com/arlynstewart/fog.JPG

And viola, a pic Mark Melchoir, Spike's predessor, motoring in the fog... which I snapped at Pensacola.

Thanks Arlyn... that was exactly the sort of advice I was looking for... I have Cox internet as my ISP too so it should work for me.
