I am in the process of running my lines aft and need to decide which blocks to use at the base of the mast. I installed the CD mast base plate under the stock mast base. I bought one Big Bullet swivel block (the 2.25 in. seems fine too) to try and it seems pretty good (but what do I know?). Any thoughts would be appreciated.

When routing my mast and boom control lines aft, I installed a variety of turning blocks at the mast base depending on line size and load. I usually prefer Harken blocks, but for the 3/8" halyards I chose Ronstan ball bearing series 30 as I recall because of their favorable SWL/$ ratio. For the lighter lines I went with Harken 22mm Micro and 1-1/8" Bullet. My deck organizers are the 1-1/2" Harkens. For clutches I have Spinlock XAS series. To cleat the smaller lines, I use Harken #423 series camcleats with fairleads.
I've put maybe 1,000nm on this setup so far, including ocean use and winds up to 2nd reef. So far the only failure has been a hairline crack in one of the clutch housings.

Bryan,
It looks like he used Garhauer swivel shackle blocks and added the springs, which can be bought separately. The springs help in keeping the blocks and lines off of the deck.
Garhauer has a very limited web site. Most of what I have bought from them has come from phone conversations. 909-985-9993 You basicly have to tell the receptionist what you want and she will figure it out, mine have optional bearings and springs. The seris 25 items are a little large for our boats but OK, my cheek blocks on my boom are also G 25s
