If you're interested:
Yamaha is running a special on financing. No interest until 2005.
Also- They DO have a regular pull cord on the T8. The only models without are the ones with the power tilt. Give up the power tilt and there's a regular pull handle to back up the electric start.

Is the pull cord (recoil starter) on the "High Thrust" version of the Yamaha outboards, or only on the "regular" version?

The new Hight Thrust 8 w/o power tilt has a regular pull handle. Also now has a fresh water flush on the outside of the engine.
A couple sales people have told me that the old 8 and 9.9 high thrusts were basically the same motor they've had since '86 with a lot of modifications. The new T8 (high thrust) has been redesigned and is suppossed to be an entirely new engine.
