After reading an article in this month's Sail Mag, I've decided to explore installing a Teak & Holly cabin sole in my 250 WK. Has any 250 owner tried this before? I'd really love to get some tips or pics on this if possible.
Lon: I ordered that option with my new boat, perhaps you can order it from Catalina and they would include the instructions for installation. Kent Nelson at Catalina is very responsive to questions either on the phone or via email.... Kent@Catalinayachts.com
That is the only change I would make to my 2000wk if I had to do it again. I would pass on the carpet and go with the teak & holly floor.
I would also consider an upgrade if the cost is right and it doesn't take a huge amount of time to install. However this is not at the top of my mod list.
we also have the teak and holly floor in our 99 wk. we ordered it when we ordered the boat. it looks simple enough to put in yourself, though. it is in 2 pieces and has screws holding it down. the majority of the floor is one piece, the second peice is a little one running lengthwise behind the stairs. i am guessing it comes in a 4 x 8 sheet (thus the need for the seam behind the stairs) we were a little concerned about it scratching, but it looks the same as the day we bought the boat and we spend every weekend on it from may to october. we are very happy with it. there is no special care needed to keep it looking brand new.
I've been contemplating it for my 25 for about 2 years. After the article, I think I am ready to go ahead with it as well. Lon - since the area of my cabin sole that I will refinish is on a single plane and after reading the article, what would your thoughts be on foregoing the use of the OSB subfloor and just adhering the plywood to the cabin floor?
