Hi all

Weather seems to breaking here on LI (or am I abit over anxious) Anway (2) of my projectsa are:

- Clean the buthcher block counter above my newly installed Origo 3000. Any ideas on this, seems to be a bleach stain.

- Anyone ever changed the counter tops on a C25? these include both the head vanity and the galley area. I like that solid surface material used in homes.

Appreciate any ideas & welcome photos.

Don't know about the counter top, but I cleaned up my butcher block top by first sanding the entire board with my orbital sander to get a nice new surface. I then applied a liberal coat of mineral oil which I let sit for a little to allow the wood to absorb it, then I wiped it dry.

This made the butcher block look like new again.

I think I saw a tech article about replacing the countertops. The solid surfaces are kind of expensive and pretty heavy. You can get a similar look with a solid laminate. It is about 3mm thick. You could combine it with solid surfaces for the edges and achieve almost the same look at less cost and weight. You might have to get it through a cabinet shop as I don't think the home stores carry it.

Frank,
I have replace the counter top in the galley area on my C25. You can find photos at the web site in my signature. I like solid surface materials too, but they are not a do it yourself project, whereas laminates are. Corian countertops are typically sold by the running inch

Very nice Job!! you should start a side business of custom installations!!

Is that the Stereo I see in the pictures above the table? And is the countertop blue? or is that a protective coating.

Very nice work Earl. I esp. like the extra space and speaker mount.
Frank- Laminate counters are fairly easy. Just need a router and some contact cement.
Our boat's counter goes over the stove area. I posted it before but this seems like the right time to do it again:

Frank,
Yes, that is the stereo ( and VHF) above the table and the countertop is blue.

Doug,
I wish I had seen how you extended your counter over where the old stove had been before I started, as I really like your result
