The F-18 auction was halted ... I haven't heard the official explanation yet, but, believe me, the auction turned into a complete goat rope.
I was watching the auction last night at about 7pm. When I first looked at it, the price had gone up to $25M after 222 bids. Within 20 minutes it climbed to $999,999,999 after 249 bids ... an UTTERLY RIDICULOUS amount. Then, as quickly as it had climbed, it started to drop like a rock ... the JERKS who had bid it up that high started retracting their bids. Some of them claimed "entered the wrong amount," but others were bold enough to just say "bogus." In no time at all, the amount was back down to $24.5M and 212 bids.
I was furious! These guys were making a mockery of the whole thing, and they obviously thought it was a joke. I wrote eBay Customer Service and voiced my disgust ... I hope all those deadbeat bidders are banned from eBay for life!
