 Cat 25 in the Gulf of Mexico??

How would the 25 do in a trip along the Gulf of Mexico Coast from, say, Tampa Bay to New Orleans?

Also, if you're coming down the intercoastal waterway, isn't there a canal that connects the intercoastal waterway to the Gulf?

Depending on the skipper, the boat and with time to wait for a weather window I would make the trip, but it certainly isn't for a new sailor. And yes there is a canal that crosses Florida, it is called the Okeechobee Waterway. (NOAA (NOS) Chart 11428) Also keep in mind that there is a non-continuous Gulf ICW.
