My boat is at the slip 90 miles away. Can anyone give me the dimensions of the hatchboard/companionway overall and the size of the rabbet. I'm looking for replacement ideas and wanted to know how much material I need. Overall left to right at top and bottom, bottom to top in the center. Thanks, Sid
The CD catalog shows four different measurement combinations ranging from 29 1/8" to 30 3/4" wide at the top, 19" to 20 1/2" wide at the bottom, and 28 1/2" to 32 3/4" tall. All show the thickness to be 3/4".
I cut both dimensions of the rabbets at one-half the thickness of the hatchboard stock. I made templates from the old hatchboards to trace onto the new stock.
I own a '78 SK with plywood doors. A couple of years ago, I bought a '78 SK with teak doors I was going to switch with mine. THEY WERE NOT the same size!!!!! I really think it would behoove you to measure yours carefully or use the old ones as patterns.
I own hull#685; the ones that were significantly larger were off hull #496, which now looks GORGEOUS with varnished teak companionway hatch boards!
