I'm planning on purchasing a 2002 Cat 250 Wing Keel mid-summer, and I'd be interested in finding out what everyone's preference is: tiller or wheel, as well as your reason for prefering one over the other. Thanks in advance! <img src=icon_smile.gif border

I own a C250 WK with a tiller. Much of what Arlyn said is right on hte money. My choice was dictated by keeping the boat simple, better feel for the steering and now liking the isolation a wheel gives you from the crew. I also would add that the boat t

I don't have much to add to what Arlyn said, except that I went with the wheel to accommodate the learning process of the "rest of the crew". The wheel has been much easier for those with no prior sailing experience.

For me, it is a tight squeeze betw

I've had both a wheel and tiller on boats in the size range and prefer the wheel hands down. It frees up significant space in the cockpit, can be easily removed to access the walk-through transom, and seems to provide an enhanced level of maneuverabili

Unless you are parked the wheel makes the cockpit bigger. Engine controls on the pedestal are also a big plus (with a start button for the engine too.) Single handing is easier if you have a wheel lock on the pedestal. Getting around the wheel is also

When we bought "All Keyed Up" I was specifically looking for a tillered boat, but changed my mind due to difference in delivery from Catalina.

After owning "AKU" for about 2 years, I can say that I have never regretted getting the wheel. In fact I am
