The previous thread about batteries made me remember that I have yet to hook up the battery re-charge capability of my Honda 8 OB engine.

The wiring connection from the engine is obvious, but to what do I connect the other end of the wire leads to ?

I'll add a question: My old Honda had a plug connector at the engine, so the battery cable could come to it. My new one has a hard-wired, 6' battery cable for which I'll have to rig terminals with another cable to the battery... Has anyone done somethi

Well, Douglas... The Honda Owner's Manual doesn't have a diagram of the Catalina 25. If your engine's manual has one showing where to put terminals, please let me know what it said.

Dave, I understand your problem. I purchased a 9.9 Honda a couple years ago and the motor comes hard wired with a heavy 6 ft cable. I faced the same situation. How do I connect it to the battery that is ten feet away? Also, how do I connect in such a

I think I can add something here, but I have a problem as well.

My 1979 fixed keel tall rig Walkure was originally fitted with a sail drive mounted in the port lazarette. The previous owner removed that and got a Nissan 9.9 outboard with electric start

Bristle: Page 24 of my Honda manual specificaly says (Battery Charging).
A cord was provided when I bought my new 8 hp. It is about 12 or 15 feet long has a plug for the engine charging system on one end and the other end connects directly to the battery

Thanks William--I like your approach! I'm thinking of running the cable from the battery to the molded fuel locker, which is an easy reach for the motor cable and has an opening for the fuel line that can also accommodate the motor cable. I'll look at s

After my last message I went to the Web and started searching. Then went to West Marine and found what I was looking for. Got:

1 Marinco contoured 30-A power inlet, model 304EL-B
1 Marinco connector model 305CRCN
1 Marinco connector cover, Model 103R

Dave: I have had two Hondas 1985 and 1999 both of them unpluged at the engine. Are you sure the wire isnt in a plug. Have a realy close look right at the side of the engine. I thought mine was hard wired too as the plug was a tight fit. I cant understand

Think Dave is right on this...it doesn't look easily disconnected on the 2001+.

And, I cringe at the thought of any electrical wiring in a fuel locker. If necessary for routing... it would have to be in conduit that was sealed from the compartment.
