This question is broader than Cat25's, but who knows, we might use Essayons for a ICW trip. We're wondering if the sailboat mast presents any additional issues on the ICW over a lower profile powerboat for all the bridges. We're also assuming here that an

Jenny/Steve,

I've not made the trip but assume that channel 13 will get a workout on your way. Here on the Great South Bay of L.I. all but the Babylon bridges must be opened to allow tall ships to pass. The lower bridges respond to #13 VHF. The Shi

I can only speak with certainty about the ICW on the west coast of Florida, between Sarasota and Ft. Myers, where I have cruised many times. Mast height is not a problem for a C-25, or C-250, or for much larger boats. The bridges

Hi Steve and Jenny,

There is a fixed span with a vertical clearance of 35 feet somewhere between Cape May and Atlantic City, NJ- I can get you the exact location out of my cruising guide if you need it. I have been wondering myself about that one..

val where do u sail out of here on Long Island, I am out of the Patchogue River. Since I am new to sailing maybe I can take a look at your baot in the spring to get some ideas.

I have been giving some thought to a trip on th ICW myself. I live in NY and would like to make it to Key West. I have found some great information about the ICW on sailnet.com. Log onto sailnet.com and then look for Articles, which is listed under Poupul

I just entered keyword Intracoastal Waterway guides/charts,( AOL ) and came away with considerable information potential. If you're not an AOL member I'm sure the Google search engine will do as well. Give it a try, VOODN'T HOIT.

I have been reading some articles about the ICW and I provided a link to this website which has a lot of info . The link I copied is a page which lists clearances to the bridges on the ICW. hope this answers some questions. I couldn't find the articles
