Having trouble with pop-top alignment, pop-top closing to far to port. Not sure what has happened to cause this problem, current supports don't look like they are bent. I have ordered power lift kit from Catalina direct. Has anyone had this problem? Do you think power lift may help to correct this issue?

Mine sits a tiny bit farther to starboard than to port. Does it slide left and right after it is down? The big issue is... is it sealing well? Is your gasket in good shape? I have the lift kit and it is amazing. One of the things that CD strongly recommends in the installation instructions is to add a second set of dogs (latches). Do you think that would help your situation? Remember, fiberglass parts are capable of being incredibly unique even though they are intended to be standardized. You may have too much material in the recess of the lip and it may be forcing the top over as it sits down. Of course a dozen photos posted in the thread always helps.

Chuck,

The pop top power lift kit consists of two high pressure gas springs (like that on a minivan's rear door) that are installed between the struts of the pop top and greatly reduce the muscle needed to lift the top...or so I've been told.

The kit is available from Catalina Direct for $129.00.

Arms locked, chest out, chin up, butt down, back straight...press...it's up!

Seriously, the Catalina Direct web site has info about it.

It is as much for the greater control in putting the top down as for anything else. It does make lifting it trivial and it forces the top against the mast so it is not being held there by the hook on the mast alone.
