I just received my Catalina Direct C-25 handbook, and I find it very informative. I am paticuarly interested in the upgrade kits they sell to stop the side movement, new cable, and replace the pivot pin for the swing keel.

Question I have is can a nov

Count your fingers (and toes) before you start "playing" around with your swing keel, as it must be lowered to install the inserts that stop the side play.

I had my swing keel removed at a marina. I reinstalled it myself at home in my driveway. It's not child's play, but it can be done. Here's a link you might find usefull:

Frich, when I had my keel removed by the yard it cost me about 3 boat units including drilling and tapping 2 bolts while replaceing all four. Once the keel is off, if they will let you, you can do the rest of the work yourself then let them put it back to

Fear not! I lowered the keel far enough on the trailer to rework the trunk which was leaking (I won't bore you with the details). The key is not allowing side to side movement and using Leon's threaded rod method along with a good floor jack. To
