i have been using "seafoam" as an additive to my gas for a 2001 honda 4 stroke.
there was another additive that several of you guys used and i can't recall the name. i believe they said it was available at almost all discount stores.

My truck is a diesel (Dodge Cummins) and for some reason I can't fathom, diesel fuel is currently MORE EXPENSIVE than gasoline. Historically, diesel is almost always 10 to 20 cents per gallon cheaper than gas, yet for the last three months, it is averaging 30 cents MORE than gas here in the land of Fruits, Nuts, Flakes, and "The Arnold". In fact, the last time I filled up, it was $2.28/gal, IMHO, about $1.00 gallon more than diesel should cost. I have curtailed all non-essential driving since the gas price hike, and I will probably have to forego my planned San Juans cruise this summer unless fuel prices drop back below $1.50/gal (which doesn't seem likely). Rhetorical question: The Government keeps saying that gas prices are at all-time record highs because of a "shortage". If there is a shortage, why is there no rationing, and no long lines at gas stations? I remember the Arab oil embargo of 1973 - a genuine emergency, that was - yet gas prices only rose from about 75 cents/gallon (1972 price) to about 88 cents/gallon during the Embargo. This gas prike hike really stinks, and the "shortage" excuse just doesn't hold water. If this was a real oil shortage, we would have rationing, like our parents had to put up with during WWII.
About the current gas prices,...for the past couple of weeks, I've been in a class with an instructor from Denmark and one day we were talking about the price of gasoline and he noted that European gas prices are currnetly between $5.00-$6.00 a gallon, which is normal for them. Two years ago just outside Berlin, I filled up the thimble sized fuel tank of my rental car, a compact 4 cyl Opel, and it came to just under a hundred bucks.
So when you think your paying a lot for gas, just remember that even if gas went up to three dollars a gallon, it's still cheaper here than anywhere else.
I use both Stabil and Techron. I also have a 2001 Honda 8hp, and after several service calls and about $750 on carb cleaning, etc. I took drastic measures. So far, no problem at all.
