I bought a mast gate last winter from Joe Martinek who makes a nice one for $15 delivered. I debated the mast gate versus jack lines for a while, but we've had that discussion... I ordered one gate thinking it covered the opening only to find that apparently some boats have a one-sided opening while mine is cut back on both sides. So what I got covered only half of the opening. I've since ordered one for the other side. Joe would like to know if all of the 250's are like this or if not, can anyone say which year models have what. I'll pass replies on to Joe. Anyone interested in a mast gate can contact Joe Martinek at joemartinek@starband.net
Mine is a 04 WK #743 and has just one side notched. I to order and installed Joe's mast gate. Works great especiallyon a C250 were reefing is a part of sailing in the afternoons in norhtern Florida.
My 1995 WB #8 has one side cut. I haven't made the gate for it yet. How does your mast gate attach to the mast, I didn't see any holes in the picture for attachment. Keith

That's the standard setup, but it does not allow the slides to go all the way down to the boom. With the gate there's more travel down. Makes for cleaner reefing jobs.

Thanks to this forum for the tip. The mast slot has one side, the gate works great.
