How is the water getting in??? It appears under my port side aft dinette bench. I dried it out last Sunday, there has been no rain since and yesterday I had another inch in there. My boat is a '78 swing keel, dinette style interior. I have no holes in my hull, other than the wire for the swing keel. Does water come through there?

Hi Bill, I had exactly the same problem this spring, in exactly the same location. I kept drying it out and more would show up. I have a small opening in the front starboard corner of this compartment which I assume leads to under the sole beneath the table. I finally cut a 4 1/2 in. hole here, and installed a deck plate. There was some water there which I believe came from condensation. Ultimately I used baby diapers to dry both areas and the water finally disappeared and hasn't returned. do you keep your boat in the water in the winter?

John,

I pulled my boat out of the water in mid December and splashed it again in the first week of May. So it was sitting out of the water for 5 months +/-. I know that it gets pretty moist inside the cabin on the trailer and the 60 watt bulb I had burning inside did not really do much. It could be condensation from winter storage. Normally that area is dry, but I think I had the same problem last year. Thanks. I will continue to dry out and see if it goes away.

Bill.

Bill, I have the same year/model C25 as you. After a good rain h2o collects in the same place as yours. In my case the h2o originates at the port cockpit drain. I can stop leak with a little sealant, but it reoccurs after awhile. Hope this helps. Gary

Bill: I'd also be suspicious of the aft cabin window. Try drawing multiple lines in the hull with colored chalk, perpendicular to the possible paths of the water, and look for where the water washes away parts of the lines. That'll show you the direction if the water flow, and you can deduce the source from there.

This is where the water collects in my 84 SK. It is also the place where the tube for the bilge pump is located - I thought that was where it was supposed to collect?

I don't know if this is coincidence or not, but I haven't had any water collect under the aft dinette seat ever since I fashioned a stainless steel dam for my portside stern clamshell vent/rainwater scoop.
