My wife and I have decided not to launch our boat this season for a number of reasons...grad school, 2 small rugrats at home..ect. So I find myself in Maryland now just a few miles from the Chesapeake with that familiar itch that is getting worse by the day. So if anyone is daysailing on the upper Chesapeake this weekend and has room for one more I'd be very grateful! Have cooler...will travel!!
Okay.....the weekend passed with no leads but it rained so no biggie!! I guess my previous post should have said "any weekend". So, any of you guys (girls) out plying the Chesapeake...please give me a call if you need crew. You will make my wife very happy.
Steve: I was actually at Brookville about 3 weeks ago. We stopped there on our way across the country to visit a good buddy of mine that you might know...Charlie Hughes from Strictly Sail. We did an overnight there on the shop's Montego 26. Had a great time drinking rum and howling at the moon, it was a great way to break up the long drive from Vegas to Maryland. Charlie and I used to sail together over on Rocky Fork and as you might also know, he has a C25.
Oscar: I just left Vegas!! I wish I could send some of this East coast rain back there to fill up Lake Mead. They are in dire straights. We are living in Gaithersburg just north of Bethesda. Thanks for the invite....I'll drop you a line.
Send me an e-mail too Nate. My C250wk is tied up in Mayo, MD, just south of Annapolis. I already had other plans this past weekend so I didn't reply earlier. I'll give you a call if you're willing to sail with a guy who's still learning about his boat.
You guys rock!!! Dave, We're all still learning...that's the great thing about sailing (and golf), you never stop learning new tricks. I checked out Mayo on the map...looks like you guys are on the Rhode River? I'm still learning my way around the area so I have to look at the maps about a dozen times a day. So far I can find my house and Lowe's w/o any problems.
Dave B., Never been to NYC! Might have to take you up on that offer while we are out east for a couple years. There is so much to do in this area (DC) that I fear 2 years will whiz by and we will be saying "Bummer...we never got to do this or that." That's the life of the military nomad. I'm not complaining, where else could my wife get a graduated degree while still getting paid....thanks tax-payers!!
