This morning, working at home, I checked into the forum... Well, that was almost impossible--it was taking 2-5 minutes for a page to come back to me, if it would at all. Several other sites (including CNN and my company's own site) seemed to be normal. I then heard that a massive denial-of-service attack was on, and that Yahoo and some others were swamped. Did the attackers go after our humble little forum?? (...or our servers?)

Spike: Any clues?

Much higher level than that... the attack was primarily directed at the main DNS (Domain Name Service) servers operated by Akamai. Initial comments are that it was a distributed denial of service attack (DDOS).

In this sort of attack, thousands of machines that had been previously compromised by hackers were instructed to hit the main DNS servers with carefully crafted 'crap' packets at the same time.

Full details haven't been released yet... took big chunks of the internet down.

Hey Dave! For a bunch of guys who get off doing six or seven knots, what's a few minutes more or less?

Watching the Sound go by... Great! Watching my screen... No. (Face the wall and count to 200, then let me know how you liked it.)
