I am moving to Houston and am wondering what sailing there is in that area. I know Houston is near the gulf. I have heard of Kemah, Nassau Bay and Clearlake Shores. Where is the best place to buy a house on the water?
Also, is there good sailing there? What about cruising destinations?
I live in league city I have a c-25 and I keep it at Watergate Yachting Center. If you want to live on the water look at clear lake shores, if money is no object then look at waterford harbor. Stay away from Moon Caye Condos. Clearlake area is the sailing capital of Texas. Good sailing conditions except for the latter part of july and August (doldrums). Other than that watch out for hurricane season. Any questions feel free to contact me.

My parents live on the water in Nassau Bay, it's a great area I think. It's amazing that that little bay is naturally 8-10 feet deep, but true. There are many sailboats (up to 40') kept there. However, I suppose you probably need to do a little bit of a trek to get to clear lake proper to do some real sailing. My dad is into fishing, he keeps a boat down in Galveston so he can get out to the rigs quicker (which is where the best fishing is). Clear Lake is an amazingly large boating area though, should be lots of fun!
