I noticed thet Catalina does not supply a cunningham for the main. After rummaging around in some old posts the feeling at that time was there really wasn't a need with a fully battened main.
Does anyone have any diferent thoughts on this? Also, If you've added one, please share the specific setup you used.
Thanks.

As I recall, a simple cunningham was an option on a new boat, although it wasn't very functional. You don't need one. If your gooseneck is fixed, you can adjust the luff tension by putting more tension on the halyard. If your gooseneck is movable, you can put more tension on the luff by sitting on the boom.
On my Catalina 25 Tall Rig, the sail was set up for a cunningham but the mast/boom was not. I purchased a ss eye strap and 4" black cleat and attached them on either side of the mast about 8" below the boom. It works fine although I seldom use it.
A cunningham was conceived as a tool to hedge on sail area restrictions for racer types. It does have a slight bit of practicallity to reduce the power of a mainsail and would be effective on larger boats with much larger mainsails and higher ballast to sail ratio. The small percentage of power reduction of a cunningham on a C250 is insignificant to the general need... which is acomplished by taking a reef.
