SJ asked about interest in organizing one, why not? <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote"> Well, one issue is that from City Island to Noank is some 90-100 miles... There's always the Long Island Sound Catalina Association, http://www.saillisca.com. Only two C-25s that I know of have ever belonged, and I let my membership lapse this year due to many uncertainties and lack of involvement in their activities. (They do have an annual West Marine night, most recently in Milford, with 15% discounts througout the store, except electronics.)
I was thinking along these lines. The sound is very large, however if we put together a combined fleet...maybe a western and eastern region for racing, then one District championship race in the middle say around the Stamford/Oyster Bay area. I'll bet we could get a start at one of the YC's in that area combined with one of their races. ....A few cruises/BBQ's in each region and maybe a holiday deal in the city....Just a thought
I was wondering the same thing; why not our own fleet? The LIS Catalina Assoc. seems to be defunct. The website was down for quite a while this summer and the link that Dave posted give another "site not found" message.
Since the Sound is so vast then a Western and Eastern split would make sense with big rally somewhere in between in the middle of summer where we could duke it out for honors.

Try http://www.saillisca.com (I also changed it in the post above.) They are not defunct--they just had a regatta a few weeks ago, a clambake in Oyster Bay not long ago, a lobster bake at Port Jeff in July, and a big cruise. They also have a mooring in Port Jeff for members. Check out the site.
I'm interested--Passage and I will be moving from the western end to the eastern end between seasons--over to Charles Wall's neighborhood. Meanwhile, if you want to get together for a race, you could try joining in on the J-24 Worlds at Noroton Yacht Club the weekend of 9/25--they probably wouldn't mind. I won't be here for that, and hopefully Jeanne won't be, either!
Unintentional.....I'll post there as well....Not sure about the LISCA, doesn't sound as though there has been much participation from our boats....Maybe we could check in on that. I would be very interested is getting a group together on the sound. I would assume we need the bleesing of the fleet first and there must be some bylaw stuff we need to do....I'm game if we get enough participation....

Send him an email asking for the info, and he'll take care of it. In fact, knowing Don, he might have already sent it to you. (Check your email.)
I am moored in Mt. sinai harbor (just east of port jeff)and is interested in the fleet idea although Iam more of a cruiser than racer.I think there is 2 or 3 more c25 in my area.
Crusier racer all the same....Would be good to get a few of us together either way...Cruise the sound well for me Port Jeff and American YC is as far as I have actually gone but, what the heck I'd be up for it...
My C25 will be in Huntington Harbor next season. I think a club would be a great idea. Right now I crew with some members from the Loyd Harbor Yacht Club (a paper club that organizes races and cruises).
We could do the same thing. They have moorings in Loyd Neck, one somewhere by Northport, and another at Block Island.
One of the two in Northport is most likely mine. Out by the hanger.
I'd like to see what we can do. I just got the info packet from HQ and it seems fairly simple. We would need to hold a start up meeting I guess to go over what we want to do. I'm up for it as well....
We should gather a list of those interested. If everyone would send their names and locations to one person's email we would have a full list. Does this meeting have to be a physical meeting? If so this list would also help find the most central location.
If you want to do this everyone could email me and I'll put it all together.
