It's not cheap, but very interesting.

Just too damn cute. Kind of reminds me of those blue 55 gallon plastic drums.

Hey - you found the Pudgy! I have been involved with this project off and on since its conception almost five years ago. I have no stake in the company - lest anyone wonder about my motives. The guy on the website's mooring is two down from mine and we're friends. I'm basically an enthusiastic supporter. I did go to the boat show last year to help Dave market the boat (Its not hard to get someone from Maine to go to the Miami boat show!)

Most of the pictures on the site were taken when we went to the Miami boat show last February. That was a scarey trip - the yellow boat in the pictures was the first one out of the mold. It was delivered to us in Miami. None of us had ever seen the boat before it arrived in our booth at the show.

Anyway - it works! As a dinghy, its great. Planes with a small engine, very stable, rows and tows great. We had a second hull in Miami (the thing was so new we didn't even have the parts to rig that hull ) that I put in the water. I couldn't flip it from inside it.
It sails well.

I don't think one has been employed as a liferaft, yet, but it ought work well. With a drouge deployed from the bow it would be very stable. Testing has been favorable.

Mine's going to be safety orange.

Justin

I saw it at Strictly Sail at Jack London Square (Oakland). I stopped to admire it but when I saw the price tag moved on to other wonders, like wireless windmeters. If I had a bigger boat and could consider such a lifeboat as my dingy I would wonder how it would work for surf landings on the beach in Baja. Could you mount wheels on the transom?
