See below thread Getting Dark Earlier...Go to the link. See
Rolex Farr 40 Worlds 2004, Sat. Sep. 11, Last picture. That's Sparky
cutting across the fleet on the way from Angel Island to the Bay Bridge (SF side). That little white sailboat that looks out of place. I was going to go on East side of Treasure Island but all those racers were in the way of the course so changed my mind. There were a couple ahead of the fleet scooting towards North side of Alcatraz, looks like this pix was taken from the deck of one of those. It was a blustery day in the slot for a Catalina 25, but we held our own. whooooo hooooo are we having fun yet?

That move certainly required El Grande Cojones!! I wonder how you'd do on corrected time if you stayed in the race? :-D

Great Photo...

Note the big grin on the skippers face. I believe the photo was taken on the winning boat (Barking Mad) just after the finish of the last race... on their way in to the victory celebrations.

The J-24 Worlds are being hosted by the yacht club here in Darien this week... 75 boats from around the world. I might get a chance to do the same thing to them! At least I'm bigger than they are... (But not my cojones--the Js were out racing in the rainy 25-35-knot remnents of Jeanne today!)

"STARBOARD!"

Actually, most of the fleet was East of me, except those two boats - one of which this pix
was taken on. I had changed course to avoid them and wound up beating instead of reaching
into that chop. Clam I think you're right & hey I didn't notice that poney tail.

That steering wheel would work well on a C25, don't you think?

OOoooops gotta fess up. Checked my log. Don't think that's Sparky. Wrong day. I cut across there the day before after coming from the South Bay and going through the W. end of Racoon Straits then back to Bay Bridge. About same conditions, maybe a little less wind as my notes say I had the blade up and only a flattening reef in. On Saturday I came under Bay Bridge and then angled over to East end of T.I. and then around T.I. and back under the bridge. Had the blade and 1st reef in for the trip thru the slot on that trip. Soooo I'm probably just out of the picture. That's what it was like tho the day before.
