For personal reasons, I am resigning from my position as Commodore of the Catalina 25/250 National Association effective immediately.
Good luck and safe sailing to you all. ************************************** Edited post:
I have edited my original post to how it is now and to include the following:
Gary Bruner as Vice Commodore is in charge of the business of the Association as well as all the other Officers and Staff who remain in place in their respective roles.
The Officers will discuss the course of action for the Elections and the Assocaition as a whole but let me assure everyone that the Association is in good shape with over 900 members and excellent Officers at the helm.
I'm really sorry to hear of your resignation. I think you have served admirably, as have all of our current officers ... thank you!
I'm assuming that you must have gotten some private emails criticizing and accusing you of who-knows-what, because I've not seen anything like that posted on the Forum. What's bothering me is, where is this coming from? Jim Baumgart just got ambushed by someone, and now a similar incident has resulted in your resignation ... I don't like this trend.
I think we are a great group. I hate to see one or two malcontents try to hijack the Forum because things don't suit them. If things were in a mess, then complaints would be justified ... they're not. In fact, things seem to be running smoother now than at any other time during my membership in the Association.
Again, I hate to see you go. I can't blame you though ... it's no fun to be the brunt of undeserved attacks ... I hope we can put a stop to this.
I second CVIC'S assesment as to the contributions that you have made and hope that all goes well with you.
If this is as a result of some back stabbing sob it is starting to sound like the ADMIRAL of old has been released from his holding cell and is back on line.
Please don't let the likes of such trash get to you. We need your contributions here.
Clif, I send my thanks to you also. You have been easy to aproach, as well as knowledgeble. I will miss you in leadership. By the way, I sent off my check today. I asked my wife to do it when it was due, but she forgot. I should be paid in full in a couple of days.
Clif: Every Catalina 25 and 250 owner can be proud of this organization. It is a great community and source of support, and without question enhances the value of our little yachts. It has only become stronger and more constructive under your leadership. As a community, this association has been one of my best refuges through some tough times. Whatever is going on, I hope you can get it behind you quickly. This is, after all, only about sailing. Repeat (to all here): It's only about sailing.
Cliff's tenure as an officer has been one of many years of service. That kind of effort is always appreciated. A year ago when the Commodore position became vacant... Cliff and I exchanged mail about it each deferring to the other to fill the position... and each granting that the other had the full confidence and support for the other to serve. I won that exchange and Cliff served.
My point in sharing this is to simply point out that the task of service is a labor of love for a fellowship of sailors and Cliffs service was certainly in the vein of the unassuming as proven by his willingness to support someone else for the task he took on.
Not only was Cliff unassuming, he also offered competance and recently a graat moment of diffusing humor in an exchange between he and I about racing issues for the C250.
Cliff, I've appreciated both you personally and your service to the association and hope that none of your anchorages suffer too many rollers.
Many thankx for your service Cliff. I'm sure I don't know what all this is about as I like to mind my own business. But I certainly do appreciate having the forum here and I understand that takes some kind of organization. Lots of Luck in all your endevors. And Safe Voyages...
Thank you for your service. This is the best Association website ever and it is due to the unselfish service of folks like you. God bless, ron srsk Orion SW FL
Clif, I am sorry to see you leaving the Commodorship of our National Association. I have enjoyed getting to know you and working with you. You have done a great job this year and in years past. Thank you, amigo.
Clif: Thanks for your service and contributions. In any organization, especially when a volunteer, no one understands what it takes on your end. The only time I personally contacted you for information you were very helpful. Thanks again, Dan #727
Holy Cow, Man.....I would like to try to change your mind.....I have SO much repected your leadership of this association which has enjoyed a resurgence under your command. I was pleased to have met you at the Nationals. You will be sorely missed, my friend. I still trust that you might reconsider......?
