Rainbows are hard to photograph, this one was very subtle and seemed just for me... and another cheesy movie.Northend

Frank - Cool picture. And the movie's not all that cheesy.

It's amazing how music triggers memories. I had that Blood, Sweat and Tears album on 8-track and it was the background music for many memorable times back when I was sowing my wild oats. Now my only wild oats are in my oat bran.

Frank,

Your full-batten mainsail...lust, lust, drool, drool.

Nice pic!

Awesome picture, Frank. Definitely a wall hanger! I wonder if PhotoShop would allow me to modify the sail number, add a bunch of mud-dauber stains, and erase the masthead fly. ;-)

Thanks, notice how small the spreader patch is, full battens keep the sail from moving so the same small spot is all that ever touches the spreader.

Frank, you better get some telltales on the mainsail before the big race!

Jim - he has telltales on the leech of the main - the best place for them!

There is no way that I will be a contender even if I install little wings on my sails. My function at the regatta will be to act as a slow moving obstruction.

Could it be the slow movement comes from misreading the wind direction. It looks to me that you indicator has the tacking angle set on the beam of the boat rather than the stern. And since everyone is being critical, you are sheeted in kind of tight. Please dont take me seeriously either. Great photo of the rainbow.

Occasionally we are positioned just right, and then the sun projects the shadow of the airplane where we can see it on the clouds off to the side and slightly below us. The shadow always has a circular rainbow around it......I have never been able to A: Have a camera with me when it happened, or B: Get it out fast enough to photograph it....

Frank, how does one get movies on the web...? I have an 8mm, do I need a digital or is there a simple way to get the analog converted. Then manipulate it and size it with what software? And then? Wait, I just found iMovie on my pewter....I'll start reading the Help section there.

It would be waaaayyyyy cool if I could post the planned rounding of Diamond Shoals this fall.......

iMovie and my digital still camera in video mode is all I do. The sound tracks are luck of the draw for what is on the stereo at the time I shoot it.

The boat is wing on wing without a pole, quite frankly I think the sails look mighty good! I just looked up and noticed the rainbow and grabbed my camera from the companionway and stepped back to starboard of the tiller and shot, the boat never moved off course.
