looking to buy a very used Cat25 down here in Nicaragua and have a # Z8054137 is there a code or what? I will be sailing on her and looking at the shape of everything. Is there something special I should look for or just the survay type items. I have seen her at anchor in the harbor outside the breakers only and cannot tell anything from here. Any and all input would be welcome as I have been sailing an Ericson 34 and am not atall in the know of the Cat25. Thanks, Ralph in San Juan del Sur Nicaragua
Is there any chance the number has been copied wrong? It doesn't look quite right to me, but I'm no expert. I know that the hull number on my boat is really faint ... that seems typical for the older C-25s ... so it's possible it might say something else.
If you click on C25 you'll find very good articles on shopping for and appraising a C25. I studied, then printed these out and took them when I went to look at C25s.
PS. did someone sail it down there? Love to hear the story of this little boat!
Ralph, You mentioned the boat is well used. If by some slim chance this is a swing keel, you ought to do some major inspection of the winch, keel cable, cable tube clevis pin and turning ball and pivot pin ( lots of good discussion in the archives on this topic). Also inspect the to-hulls. In my opinion, if you know for certain these are sea-worthy, some major issues will be behind you. Good luck. Todd Frye
