A toy from Zuffenhausen isn't nearly as expensive as you might think, as long as you shun the shows and new showrooms (this should sound familiar). Like sailboats, there's lots of folks out there with aspirations beyond their means (like myself, no pun intended but it made me smile). And hey, it's got enough HP to pull the C250WB, if not the weight.

Ummmm...never mind. Tell you what...when I hit 1,000 posts, I'll supply the punch line. In the meantime, Oscar's right, it's always fun until someone gets an eye poked out.

Y'know, all the years I spent as a kid growing up, adults were always telling me not to do something or other - almost any kind of activity that was fun - becasue it "might put my eye out". Like running with scissors, eh? So, if all this kid stuff was so dangerous, how come I have never met any of these eyeless kids? There must have been millions of them, according to my parents.
Waterboy, Noticed a black 356 on a car lot when I was twelve and it’s been love ever since. Had a dream come true in Germany… picked up a 356 Carrera 2. Scary fast. Wish I still had it. It’s worth more than my house. After Uncle Sam, I twisted wrench at Eichhorns in Denver. We raced 904’s, RSK Spyders, formula cars and everybody in the shop had some sort of project car going. I’ve had the urge for a while to do a ground up on a speedster or ragtop. If you come across a decent project car, please contact me. Thanks. Todd Frye
We ARE way off topic for this forum, aren't we? Do notice, I included 'catalina25-250' and 'sailing' in my brief original post.
That being said ... I would suggest you peruse rennlist a while. My motorpet is a 15 year old 964 cabriolet. I'm not familair with the 356's or Spyders, other than knowing James Dean had a Spyder as his last car, there's '59 Spyder with all sorts of updates and a turbo motor on eBay, as well as an original Spyder engine on eBay for $100K.
Most Porsche owners/drivers don't have the resources for such vehicles, myself included. If you're looking at a ground up restore and have the resources, knowledge etc. to pursue it, I'd look at a late '80's 911 - parts are readily available and prices are quite reasonable.
Can I go sailing again soon? Mebbe a trailer trip to SD or the Sea of Cortez this winter ... I miss the heel and feel of the tiller.
PS - holy induction Batman! I just started looking at the 356 forum on rennlist ... not cheep ... maybe after I get the Swan 75 ... the 356 would fit on the davits! (Lightenup - you could quick do a doctored phot of this eh? Porsche on davits? Mebbe even on a C25 w/tuna tower and 3 honda 250's?)
