Hi All

My boat is now on my trailer with the keel resting on an un-moveable cross member. Question I have is if I were to put some bracing to prevent sidewards movement, could I then remove the bolts which acces the pivot pin area safely. If so will I be able to inspect the pin for wear from below.

I'm a bit concerned about corrosion having noticed that this year my sacrifical annode attached to my keel was all but gone. This did not happen at previous marina I was at.

this brace worked well for a fellow that was lucky enough to have access to a 25 fin keel trailer.

If you jack up the boat a bit and make sure the keel is braced laterally, you should be able to unbolt and remove the keel hinges. They sit up into a recess so they (and the keel) will have to drop a short distance from the hull to be removed from the keel pin.

As the photo shows use the "threaded rod" method to lower the hangers with the pin outside the hull.
As to the zink - if that is seriously corroded I definitely would replace the keel cable! You don't want the cable to fail, that would spoil your day.

Can this be done oun our swing Keel trailers? I would guess my 1980 C25 SK has the orinal hard wear.
