Well, the 26' IP displaces twice as much as our C25's on about the same waterline... odds are she won't be fast in anything but heavy air. On the other hand, I think you could be comfortable crossing an ocean in her. That's what she's made for.

The IP 26's beam and LWL is closer to the C30 than our C25.

One big wave over the transom, and suddenly all that ballast is working against you! And that barn-door rudder is straight from a catboat (bay boat), but might be overwhelmed if the little Packet is heeled and pitching in big seas.
She's probably not as slow as the typical IP. She doesn't really have a full keel. She has a shoal keel/centerboard, which should perk her up a little. I don't see the kind of big cockpit drains you would like in a blue water boat. Our C25s have better cockpit drainage than she appears to have. She's a nice boat and has apparently been well-maintained.

Heh... No mercy on this forum!... y'all knew what I meant... she's fairly short and heavy. Dinna look closely enough to notice the lack of a bridge deck.. IMHO design blunder in any sailboat. However, I reckon in any kind of weather you would leave the bottom hatchboard in all the time. Rudder is strange... guess they valued that shoal draft.
Battery switch (assume that's a battery switch) looks a little out of place in the cockpit... OTOH, having it handy would be a good thing if you had electrical problems underway.
