I am installing a CDI FF4 furler on my 1980 C25. I was looking at the Schaefer block kits for guiding the furling line back to the cockpit. There are two kinds - one has blocks that clamp on to the stanchions, guiding the line inboard; the other has blocks that slip on over the stanchions and guide the line outside. Which is best?
Also, where would you place the cleat for the line? What has worked out to be both convenient and out of the way?
I've got a CDI furler on my '78. The furler is run on the port side through blocks attached to the bottoms of the stanchions on the inside. This arrangement seems to work just fine. I did mount a jam cleat for the furler line on the port side of the cabin top approximately opposite the sink on the inside. I can reach it easily if I move forward in the cockpit and it doesn't interfere with any other lines. THere are a lot of possible ways to do this, but this one works for me.
