I'm looking at replacing my old Schaffer cf-500 Snapfurl w/ the R29 Profurl. Does anyone know what the forestay tang pin size diameter is ?? Santa needs to know .....

Hi Jeff welcome aboard,

Why not use the CDI provided by Catalina direct. It comes with the correct stay and all the hardware for the C25. It's made to fit and the foil will tolerate a lot of mast raising and lowering if you are into trailer sailing. Speaking of which since you are already in Michigan why don't you join the group cruising the Keewenaw this June?

John,

I've been looking at the price points on CDI, Harken and Profurl and others. Pyacht is having a overstock clearance on the R29 basic system.

I wish I could make it 'Up-North' - unfortunately with a fixed keel, its hard to move that boat, since I don't trailer it. That cruise trip looks like at lot of fun.

Well, I hope you find the right furler. BTW the Admiral was Assistant general counsel toBank one for about 10 years. she left the firm when legal moved to Chicago, about 6 years ago.

You will find that on this forum I'm a shameless promoter of the North Channel. If you can't make it to Lake superior you could make the NC from Lake St. Clair in about 3 days. Give it a try someday.

John,

I'd be willing to come down your way if Jeff or others, are willing to come up to Neemish, or we could meer him/them somewhere. I've always wanted to sail the North Channel. Perhaps in 2006. Do you think that's enough time for any and all Catalina 25/250 to plan ahead?

I think a north channel rendevous would be great in 2006. I'll have to look into the schedule for great lakes cruising club and the Mac- little current race, and find a time when it would work. Starting in Blind River is a pretty good bet since it is a fairly active port of entry and US boats could clear customs and be ready to go from there.

Sorry Jeff, I know this was a roller furling thread and we have kind of hijacked it to rope you into going to the North Channel with us.

as for the CDI furler, I have had mine for 4 years and really like it.
Since I trailer sail a lot raising and lowering the mast is part of my routine. The extrusion is made of ABS or some other strong plastic. It tolerates a lot of stress and still works great.
