I purchased a new windex, the old one was damaged when the mast was unstepped, and I don't know what angle the tabs need to be set to. Should it be 55, 60, or 65 degrees? I have a standard rig, fin keel with roller furling.

They are simply reference points. You will learn how high you point relative to them and they will serve their purpose. For what it is worth, we do not point very well so wider is probably better. I solved the issue last year by mounting them facing the bow! Thsi year was better.
Frank did you mean the V points to the stern? Cool. To do otherwise would give credence to every adjustment effected when thing alighted on them. They are only reference points as you indicated. Especially when an errant bolt from the blue adjusts them.

On my second day in the water last season, an overweight bird recalibrated my Windex to point at the moon then a month after I fixed that, a windstorm blew the tabs off. (I'll be following the advice of another sailor and put a dab of caulk on the new tabs)
Anyway, Steve, I think that setting the Windex at 60 degrees will likely do.
I'm pretty sure I set mine at the widest setting listed on the back of the box. You can bend them, of course past that, but as mentioned earlier 60 or 70 degrees sounds about right.
I bought my new windex at CD and followed the directions, setting the tabs at 65 degrees -- I found this to be a very good guide....but as noted, it will be a guide and not a rule.
I put mine at a 90 degree angle, that way they are at a 45 degree angle from the center line of the boat which is about as close the the wind as this cruiser generally points the boat. This gives a good reference when beating to weather. It also works well when heading off the wind. The arrow pointing back alined with the tabs is a good down wind position, the arrow pointing any further back is less efficient for cruising. OK, did everybody hear? I said CRUISING!!! I will admit that I occassionaly point higher, but for that I watch the head sail telltails and do all the racing mode stuff. Furthermore, I can eye ball 90 degrees, I would need a protrator for 65.
