Coincidently, just the other day I was going to experiment with using some photo software to create painting-like shots of my boat...I think I'll do that when I get home tonight.

So do the sailors.

They were! In case anyone is wondering, Jim is standing in the companionway. Indeed, our expressions changed a little later in the trip (when he and I had changed places)... We were glad Gary had come over behind us then!
For anyone who wanders into the San Diego area, Jim is a great host on the water!
Great host??? Dave hade his choice of peanut butter (no jelly) or salami sandwitch and HE brought the beer (Sam Adams as I recall). We had some fun trying to pass one to Gary out on the 9 mile bank (too rough).
Other people thinking to visit, don't worry, the boat is fixed, I have Vessel Assist, life jackets for all, 2 VHF radios, cell phone, on board email, insurance, water and food, and I can sail into the slip with no motor or electrical system at all.
Commodore Don Peet is visiting Jan. 21 !! Looking forward to it very much! Dinner after sailing at Yakimono's (Dave, I'm sure you remember the place since you paid as I recall).
Oh yeah, 60% storm jib arrived Monday, very cool! Maybe we'll be double reefed and flying it when Don is here. Ready for whale watching in 20 knots, rain, and 7 foot seas? Piece of cake!

Adobe Photoshop has a filter program for amost every artistic medium you can think of. Knowing Oscar he probably sketched that out while he was on a layover somewhere!
The free program, Microsoft Photo Editor, has the same effects--out of curiosity, I did one just like Oscar's to the same picture. It also does watercolor, chalk, and some other media effects. Just another example of Microsoft's strategy of "innovation"--copying a competitor's product and giving it away...
