As we say here in the U.P. of Michigan, "holy wah eh"? loosely meaning holy crap. I suspect that's what the kayaker was cleaning out of his kayak after the race. I'm sure my Zodiak would not have survived, however, I don't think that the kayaker would have either if the whale had landed directly on the kayak.
I at first thought...wow that looks really fake... Then realized I didn't know what a real whale looks like jumping out of the water (except at sea world) let alone what a duped over version would look like.

The craziest thing about that flick is the commentary underneath it on that forum--a good example of how bad things can get.
I checked out the "Snopes" link that supposedly debunks the flick... I'm not sure the two whales are the same--nor is the background. The footage looks pretty real to me, but I guess that might just prove that digital fiddling can be very convincing. (I've got this video clip of GWB in the Oval Office......... )
Dave, There are a few places around Isle Royal where the moose find some vegitation underwater that is particularly tasty. In hay bay they are particularly busy and when feeding they can submerge and resurface like a whale, whle munching on wads of weeds. There are many kayakers there but I have never heard of any being up set by a breeching moose.
Lots of fun to watch but not like the "hey sweety, want to go down to the lake tonight to watch submarine races"....?
