Got my mainsail back from Sailcare. I can't say enough good things about a guy named Jerry there. Looks great, had them put a couple of stripes on it as well as my hull number and the Capri 25 insignia, (well, they put a Catalina 25 insignia on, but I fixed that quickly thanks to a tip from Jerry). Can't wait to raise it up the mast, alas, it will be a while. Now if I just knew what to do with all those strings in the sail...
I didn't bother sending them my genny as it is blown out and I have high hopes of replacing it early in the season either with an EP or a Hallett which is what is on there now. Hoping to launch around mid-may, that's only what, 3 months away.....I wonder if I'll appreciate sailing more because the season is only 6 months long here... I see a move in my future.
Saving all my vacation time for sailing season.

Rick

A little over 2 months. I told them there was no hurry. It would have been less if they hadn't sewn the stripes and made other repairs.

Just spoke with SailCare this morning. They're now quoting 10-12 week turn around times. Must be busy. Was told that it should slack off around May/June time frame. They also said that Sept-Dec is their really slack time and are offering a 10% discount during this period. Thought that info might be useful to somebody.

Rick -

I noticed in your post your current sail is Hallet. When if comes to replacement I'd talk to them again, for sure. They make great stuff.

Thanks Takokichi,

I have a quote from them. The reason I'm also considering EP sails is that they make all the sails for the Capri 25 fleet at WYC. I haven't made a final determination yet. On what do you base your recommendation of Hallet?

Rick -

I have dealt with Hallet personally. I have just ordered a new 150% jenny from them. They have also done sail repair and modification work for me over the last 6 years. Mostly, I've seen their work on many (most?) of the boats I race against. Great shape, great quality. A little more expensive than some choices but worth the money.
