What a great day I had on Lake Mead today. We have been getting rain every day I have off and I have not been sailing for a month. Today I went down to the boat to check on it, found clear skies and a nice steady 15 mph wind so the checkout went to a sail out. No power boats, no sailboats and not one stinky jet ski, just open water for me to sail. I was in heaven! I got there at 10am and sailed till dusk. It was 60 degrees and between storms. I have been really down because I could not get a sail fix so today was great for the soul. I think from now on I am going to the boat no matter what the weather is forcased and just hope for luck. I live eighty miles from door to dock so I have plan if I want to sail but now I know the worst weather forcast could turn out to be the best sailing day on Lake Mead.
Here in San Diego I spent a day between storms on the boat. I decided to take care of about 100 little chores that have been piling up rather than take on the Small Craft Advisory conditions, strong, gusty winds, occasional showers, and rough seas. Still it was a nice day and I cleaned her top to bottom, brought a lot of stuff home for cleaning, and I think I may have finally found (and fixed) the last deck leak. We'll know in a day!
Lovely day on the water, nonetheless. Glad you were able to get out!
