I've heard the best way to remove old registration numbers, names, etc. is with a heat gun. I've also been told that in lieu of a heat gun, a hair drier works just as well. Is that true? Can I just use my old hair drier sitting in the back of my closet instead of making a trip to Home Depot to get a heat gun I might not ever use again?
Rich, When I retired as a retirement present, my wife paid for the re-naming to "Brandy," re-stripeing of the stripes down the side and fonting of the registration numbers. I removed all the old letters, pin stripes and numbers with the wifes hair dryer, saved $50.00 in the process.
Remove all the wax before applying the numbers/graphic. You can do that with an interlux product (I forget the number) that is specially formulated to remove wax buildup. Search the internet for instruction on how to apply numbers/name. Usually you can find it along with a information on a sign company.
