I came home today and saw that a car had missed the turn on our street and rundown the neighbors mailbox and obviously slammed to a halt.

The scary part was had the drive not provided enough friction for the tires my side yard wasn't going to!

Of course I could have gotten an 89 out of it.

Looks to me like they were aiming for the boat but the mailbox pole slowed 'em down. Perhaps a competitor from the upcoming Nationals trying to do a "Tanya Harding" on you?

Frank, about three car lengths, I figure, and no Franks boat at the Nationals. That person must have been truckin down the road. Can't tell when they got on the binders, but had to be some time prior to the mail box or no stop possible until boat contact. Someone is looking out for you.

Probably a small car, just short enough to take out a wheel, an axle, and crush the side trialer I-Beam support and then stop short of the boat. Result: Their insurance buys you a completely new trailer and no boat damage. What a deal!!
Still, might be time to plant some big metal posts at your property line embedded deeply in a ton of concrete. One needs to protect that which one intends to sail.....

Or better yet. PUT HER IN THE WATER! Much safer in the deep blue. Then pray for the new trailer deal.

If the car had hit your boat, It would have SURELY caused major damage to the keel system .The only way to fix it........the wing conversion!

Yikes!
I'm really glad your boat didn't get hit! Like someone else said, maybe it's time to put her in the water.

Gee that doesn't really look like a hard curve to negotiate...
Makes you kinda wonder about their driving abilities.
I bet it scared the h outa them seeing that big blue and white boat coming at them.
What would have really p!ssed me off is you just got her all cleaned up!

Dang Frank, but that is a pretty boat in your yard. My wife told me I am going to launch this week end, hope your day comes soon.

update,
I talked to my neighbor yesterday and he said it was a very old woman driving. He came outside and found her stopped inches from my son's car and wondering where she was and how she got there. (As opposed to being in the street.)
hmmm

Maybe it was this lady:

By SARAH LUNDY
Ft. Myers NEWS-PRESS.COM 04/14/2005

When Dorothy Stump got behind the wheel to give a new Honda a test drive, she stepped on the pedal — the wrong pedal. It jerked backward.

Before it stopped, the 81-year-old woman had knocked down her husband, struck a salesman, smashed into a parked car, and clipped a tree before finally crashing into a wall Wednesday.

"She must of panicked," said Joe Sica, sales manager at Honda of Fort Myers on South Tamiami Trail. Dorothy's husband, Robert Byrum, 88, of Fort Myers was hit by the car's open door, according to a Lee County sheriff's report. Then, the door hit salesman Christopher Hopper, 23, who was standing about 20 feet behind the vehicle.

It kept going — hitting a parked Honda Civic, a tree and then a wall.

"Fortunately, the air bag went off," Sica said, adding the driver was not injured. Byrum and Hopper were taken to Gulf Coast Hospital where Byrum was admitted and was in good condition Thursday afternoon. Hopper, who was hired about two months ago, was treated and released Wednesday but will be out of work for about a week, Sica said.

As for the Accord, it's totaled. "You never anticipate something like this happening," Sica said. The couple will have to return to the dealership. Their trade-in, a Chevrolet, is still there.
