The third race event for #385 "Moon Chaser" wins the Hill Country Yacht Club Novice Regatta. Moon Chaser placed 1st in 3 of 3 races today beating a 28' Columbia and a 321 Benateau in the PHRF Cruiser Fleet. Many thanks to the crew Kevin Cooney, John Thurston and especially Derek Crawford who was my Mentor and in spite of my deviations of course led us to 3 wins in a row to capture the 1st place trophy. Derek led a novice crew and this helmsman to an incredible fun victory each time coming from behind in 3 starts that were less than picture perfect. Thanks Derek for a great experience!

That's Great!!!

I've not ever been in an official race. But the Mug Race is coming up here in N. FLA on the St. Johns River. Last two years I gunkholed and watched it go by. This year I'd like to enter if my job schedule will let me. There must be hundreds of sailboats in this regatta. It's billed as the longest river regatta in the world.

Safe voyages,

Steve,

Your boat and my boat (#384) arrived from the factory on the same trailer. I remember when the truck rolled into Austin in early September 1998. I sure was excited to have it before Labor Day that year.

Congratulations on your win! Derek must be a great guy to have on your boat during a race<img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Thank you all for the comments. And yes Derek is a great guy to have on board wheather you are racing or not. After the race we went over to his Cat 25 "This Side Up" and he gave us a tour of his special touches. I have a lot to learn from this guy and he is a class act. We are lucky to have him at the Hill country Yact Club.
