i just bought an 83 c25 w a marine head. i located a through the hull valve next to the holding tank but there is nothing attached to it.what is the purpose of this valve? shouldn't it have been attached to the head?
What size is the thru-hull? 3/4"? 1-1/2"? Was the holding tank factory installed, or retrofit? Where is all this stuff located in your boat? I get the impression plumbing varied depending on year and factory options, so it might be good to give us more specific details of what you can see for sure.
Assuming that the water inlet valve for your marine head is still hooked up, I believe the isolated thru-hull valve near your holding tank was at one time probably hooked to a Y-valve for the purpose of overboard discharging the contents of the holding tank.

Did they put holding tanks in the V-berths?...My holding tank is under a seat in the main cabin.
fhopper, curious... those drawings I see on here from catalina, where did they come from? I have found some here and there, and they seem very helpful... is there a complete collection somewhere?

The brochure and manuals section of the home page. When I got my boat I printed out all of them as well as saving them to my computer.

On my 1980, the holding tank is under the forward dinette seat and the to-hull is under the V-berth.
My 1980 TRaditional has the holding tank under the port setee. In the V berth there is a water inlet (1") and a outlet (2"). The outlet is now disconnected and capped off as I removed the Y valve when it broke. Only use the holding tank now.
It most likely is on the port side if you have the dinnette version. Whatever lazarette is close to the bulkhead.
Note - I still get confused between dinette and traditional... I have the darn booth at Mcdonalds in my cabin and that is where mine is located. To me that is traditional because traditionally its what I've always had....
