I think your idea of a set of cushions for the over-all winner would be excellent and that is something that I could do. I would be able to give you a certificate with which the winner would be able to pick out their fabric to customize their boat.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Sharon at the Catalina Rendevous in Two Harbors, Catalina Island. Wonderful folks. Wonderful time and we were made to feel welcome even though we had a old C25 and most of the other of the 50+ boats were newer and larger. Thank you, Sharon and all the great people at Catalina Yachts.

Good prize, but what happens if the overall winner is a brand new C250?

I wondered about that, too ... if that turned out to be the case, maybe Catalina would allow a substitute prize (some sort of C-250 upgrade?).

What determines the "over-all" winner? Might it be better to give this NICE prize away using different criteria, and/or some sort of lottery? There seem to be quite a few people who are going to attend the Nationals just for the camaraderie ... they have little hope of winning. Maybe the possibility of winning a nice prize like this would entice more people to attend, if they didn't think they had to be the best-raced boat to have a shot at the prize.

Just a thought ...

Concur with Buzz, this would be an ideal prize for a raffel to put funds in the Association kiddie to help defray expenses for the 06 Nationals'.

Hey, just my opinion, but if Catalina wants to donate cushions for the OA winner, we should take it at that and not change the "deal" and do something else with it. After all, if the winner didn't want/need it, THEN it could be auctioned off, etc....

Catalina (Frank) forgot to send us stuff for Nationals last year after they said they WOULD, but I think they are generally pretty generous about helping out with thinks like this.
