I thought I was set, but now I realize that my little 1969 4HP Evinrude will not suffice for the Hudson River currents (will be mooring at the 79th Street Boat Basin in NYC). I am in need of a tender and up to a 7.5 HP motor. Inflatable or rigid is fine, as long as it floats.
I would like to keep total cost of the package under $1000, or I'l just go to West Marine and get them new.
I do not know how to help you in your particular situation but I have one as well. I also reside in NYC - right near 79th. My boat is located out on the East End. I am looking for a small dinghy that can hold a 4 -5 HP engine. Are you looking to sell the one you currently have?
Rich, I have 2 dinghys - 1 wood and 1 fiberglass. Each will take a 4 hp motor. Both are 8' x 4'. Cost $250 for either. I work at Boat US - if you want, I will get you a motor for one of these at my discount. I can only offer this if you buy the dinghy from me. Technically, I will buy the motor for my dinghy and then sell it to you. I suggest a 3.5 hp. I live in Eastern VA, but do travel to Nyack area to visit my wife's mother. Possibly can deliver it. Let me know if you're interested and I'll take some pics. Jack
