Planning a cruise out to Santa Cruz Island in the
Santa Barbara Channel and need to know appprox.
how much fuel my Yamaha 8hp 4 stroke will burn per
hourbif I have to motor. Say, running half throttle
in normal sea conditions.

Ya know, just the sounds of the names of these places make me envious - even at quarter throttle in calm sea conditions.

I seem to get about 2 hours to the gallon with my 9.9 four stroke yamaha. Have a great trip!

This info probably won't do you much good, but my mid-'80s 7.5 hp 4 stroke Honda went about 56nm on five gallons of gas. Most of that was with the current or with no current. Sounds like a fun trip. Fair winds!

I have a Yamaha 4-stroke 9.9HP, and it gets about 10MPG at "normal" cruising speed (maybe 5kts at 1/2 throttle or so).
