Hi folks, I got back from my schooner cruise on the Stephen Taber Saturday and thought I'd share some pictures. The trip was excellent, probably the best vacation I'd ever had. There was never any boredom at all, unlike some of my other vacations. There was also something fun to do.

anyway, here is the Taber from the end of the bowsprit.


Here is me at the end of the bow sprit. It may not look it, but we are doing over 8 knots here. Talk about an adrenaline rush.


Here is the Stephen Taber from our achorage at Ross (Russ?) Island near Stonington, ME.


Here is a view of the Stonington Lighthouse from the top of the island.


The folks who are able to sail the Penobscot Bay are truly blessed, in the winter at least. With so many islands are ports only a few hours sail from each other, it is a sailor's paradise. If anyone is interested in details about the boat or the trip, let me know. It was tons of fun.

Sounds like a fantastic cruise. Maine is great. It is my ambition to one day spend winters in St Johns, USVI, and summers at Mount Desert island, ME, and in spring and fall to follow the geese. Of course, I may not live long enough to realize this dream, but I'm still buying Powerball tix! ;-)

I would really like to make one of those cruises someday. How long did it last. I like that first picture, thats a cool shot

Hi Tom, we were on the boat from Sunday afternoon to Saturday morning, but you could stay on the boat for two weeks if there was room. They also do day trips if they have a large enough group. They may also do overnight trips shorter than a week depending on their scheduling. They are a really nice family owned boat/business, and seemed to be very flexible. I think the cost per person was like $800 or $900 per week.

My grandson and I were aboard the ketch "Angelique" for the schooner cruise weekend and probably sailed right by you, not knowing it. We just did the four nights and then visited relatives in Maine. The only fog we had was on Monday morning, otherwise perfect Maine weatrher. Fair winds, ron srsk Orion SW FL
