Greetings

Looking for input on options for shorthanded lowering of the mast on a '79 std rig. I've checked the old archives and found the post on the Huntington Rig, but given that I don't have the two piece shrouds I'm not sure that I could use that m

Mark: I lower my SR to the rear, releasing the forwards and barely loosening the uppers. I use my boom vang blocks with a long line (60 feet or so?) which I attach to the jib halyard and the tack fitting. A kid can use this as a brake, easily. I have

Thanks for the advice. As this is the end of the year ritual only, I will go with the drop to the rear using my 12 year old son as the brakeman and me as the emergency brakeman. As far as the connection of the main sheet block to the head stay I am planni

As Gary B. noted it is rather easy to drop the mast aft as he
described. Couple of pointers. Be sure you have some sort of
crutch to hold the mast or you will set it down on the poptop
or cabin roof and split that. Made mine with 2x4 and lash
