Anyone within reach is cordially invited to join Fleet 94 sailors for the SYSCO One Design Regatta with a separate start for Catalina 25s. The regatta will consist of 3 races on Saturday, August 13 and 2 on the afternoon of Sunday, August 14. Join us for a barbeque on Saturday night! I am quite sure that Columbia Crossings can find room at Tomahawk Marina (the home of most Fleet 94 C25s) for out of towners.......
There IS an entry fee for non-SYSCO members (approx 25-30 dollars). For those without successful racing experience, there will be a "race within a race" for the "Captain's Cup", an award for the best finish by someone who has not won a race in the last 2 years......
Contact Terry Annis, SYSCO Race Captain and C25 owner, if you would like to enter. His email is: terransea@aol.com
Of course, if you'd like to CREW for someone, get in touch with me and I will do my best to get you a ride. I am trying hard to get our new members and non-racers to get out there.
Gonna be fun!!!!!

Derek, Just finished a 2 person delivery of a C30 down the Washington coast and over the bar into Astoria. We took about 25 hours getting to the bar; approx 150 miles. Sailed for 19 hours of it, including all night under just a reefed main. It was lumpy. I got tossed around in the cockpit once and cracked or broke some ribs, I think. When we got to the bar, it was closed by the coasties. We went in close and saw HUGE breaking waves and very confused seas, so went back out and waited a couple of hours for the flood to establish itself. Not too bad coming in since we had radar; it was foggy. Glad it's over and that I have a trailerable!
I tell you this because I remember your reaction to all the stuff at the Astoria maritime museum that dealt with this very treacherous bar!
Congrats on another successful trip Gary. I hope that your ribs heal quickly (don't let any misguided MD tape them up - it leads to a nasty pneumonia!). After studying about the Columbia River bar in the Maritime Museum I was sure glad that I sail on an inland lake! Derek
