The drain trap on our galley sink unceremoniously gave way and we didn't find out until we opened the top drawer and found it full of dishwater.

The original drains had a small thumbscrew at the bottom that held everything together and allowed disassembly, I guess for cleanining or retrieving the old wedding ring. The fastener was corroded beyond recognition and whether it was stainless steel or brass, I don't know.

Found the drains below on eTrailer.com for about $14 each (going to do the sink in the lav as well). I won't be using the cheap hose that comes with the drains.

Threads (1-1/2 x 11.5 Straight Pipe) and hose barb (3/4 ID) look to match up nicely and, if sucessful, will be one of our less expensive repairs.

Check yours it you have them!

Thanks for the info!
Cannot recall when I ever inspected the drain connections.
I should be down there sometime next week ....I'll try to remember
to take a look.

Tim, thanks for the heads up! Last summer I found a similar puddle underneath my head sink when the tiny bolt finally gave way (after 40 years). The trap itself had not been damaged but the bolt and threaded receptacle were gone.

Having a fine collection of stainless steel bolts, washers and nuts in my toolboxes, I found that I could replace the threaded receptacle with a nut that I epoxied into the housing, and replaced the old thumbscrew bolt using a new bolt, a washer, and a tiny O-ring. No leaks now.

Who knew? I could’ve spent $14 and had a brand new drain trap!
This spring I’ll check it again, and if need be, I’ll try etrailer-com for the replacement.

I appreciate it!

Thanks for the info on the sink drain.

I have a question not directly related to the drain but close. On my newly purchased '90 C25 the galley sink pump doesn't function. I haven't tried to fix it yet but thought if you guys had fixes for galley pumps, I'd ask now. The sink pump in the head area still works fine. Any input appreciated.

Ken, it’s an easy repair if you take it slowly. Scott, you've recommended the best approach, since the rubber gaskets and plungers simply dry out with age.
